The Dance Company instructors provide structured classes to ensure development and growth of each dancer. Each dancer is treated with respect and kindness in a fun and caring environment where they are challenged and can grow as a person and as a dancer.

Class descriptions are listed below. Please contact us with any questions.

 

PRE-DANCE (Ages 3 & 4)
Consists of pre-ballet and tap. This is a fun, creative outlet for pre-schoolers who like to move. This once-a-week class includes fundamental coordination and will provide a firm foundation for all types of dance. These classes will run from Fall through Spring, and dancers will perform in the annual spring recital. 

 

BEGINNERS (Age 4 & 5)
This class is designed for the student who has never danced before. It is an introduction to ballet and tap. New students should take this class for a year before beginning jazz.

 

COMBINATION LEVEL 1 (Ballet, Tap, Jazz)
This class is available for our younger students and consists of ballet, tap, and jazz. Dancers will begin to build a technical foundation in a fun-filled class taught to rhythmic music that students enjoy.

 

COMBINATION LEVEL 2 (Ballet, Tap, Jazz)
This ballet, tap, and jazz combination class is available to students who have had some dance training. Students will continue to build on skills taught in Level 1 and develop their dance vocabulary and technical abilities.

 

JAZZ
Jazz dance is an energetic, fun style of dance typically performed to upbeat, rhythmical music. Dancers have the chance to show off their individual style and originality while performing unique moves, leaps, turns, and precision movements drawn from both classical jazz technique and a more contemporary style of jazz. This class is designed for the dancer who has had some prior training. Jazz is offered in a range of levels that allow the dancer to build their jazz technique over time.

 

TAP
Tap dance is a form of dance characterized by using the sounds of tap shoes striking the floor. Tap dance increases your dancers sense of musicality and rhythm as they use their footwork to create complex rhythms that harmonize with the music. Class will focus on proper tap technique and producing clear tap sounds in a fun environment. Tap classes are offered in a range of levels for the student who has had prior dance training.

 

BALLET
Ballet training teaches necessary, fundamental skills that benefit a dancer in all styles of dance. Dancers will develop proper technique, strength, flexibility, control, and grace through structured, technical movements performed at the barre, in the center, and across the floor. Classes are designed to advance through levels and prepare the serious student for possible pointe work. Ballet is a prerequisite for some of our other classes, and some students may be required to take ballet class twice a week.

 

POINTE
Pointe is an advanced ballet technique using steps and movements done on pointe shoes. Pointe is taken in conjunction with an additional ballet class. Student must complete a Pre-Pointe ballet class and be approved by a teacher before working on pointe.

 

LYRICAL
Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. Lyrical offers dancers the opportunity to express their emotions through movement and interpretation of music. It’s a great way for a dancer to develop their artistic expression and individuality through current music and unique, flowing movements. Classes are offered in a range of levels.

 

HIP HOP
This is a fun, high energy class offered to guys and girls age 6 and up. Hip Hop brings street-style dance and hip hop music into the classroom. It’s a great way for your dancer to develop their freestyle and hip hop technique with challenging beats and movements.

 

MUSICAL THEATRE
Musical theatre combines music, dialogue, dance, and acting into one! This exciting class develops staging, drama, and confidence in producing an entertaining show. Dancers get the opportunity to act out Broadway musicals and scenarios with their own artistic vision.

 

ACRO
This class introduces your dancer to tumbling and acrobatic moves. Acro will help increase your dancer’s strength and flexibility to perform more difficult movements and tricks as they progress.

 

ACROSS THE FLOOR
This is a technique class designed to improve your dancer’s technical skills and execution of movement. Class will focus on developing proper technique in leaps, turns, flexibility, balance, control and other foundational areas of dance.

 

POM
Pom focuses on sharp, clean arm movements, formations, jumps and skills. Pom blends movements from other dance styles such as jazz and hip hop with high energy, precision, and the use of pom-poms. This is a great option for anyone interested in school cheerleading or dance teams.

 

PIYO
PiYo is a great cross-training program for dancers to develop lean muscle and improve flexibility and balance. PiYo combines the muscle sculpting moves of Pilates with the flexibility of Yoga to improve muscle tone and range of motion as well as increase endurance. PiYo is for dancers in Grades 6-12.

 

IN MOTION
A creative movement class designed especially for children with disabilities who may need special attention in order to fully experience the joy of movement, self-expression and therapeutic benefits of dance.

 


 

Occasionally, we have other instructors come to the studio to offer workshops at an additional cost. These will be in the monthly newsletter. There are also several workshops offered in Omaha and the surrounding area throughout the year. Workshops help further the dancers education and gives them an opportunity to take class from other teachers.
